My room

I say my room but of course I mean mine and Jenny's. We decided that we wanted to live together a couple of months ago and I can't tell you how happy I am about that decision. Not that I wouldn't like to get to know a local student really well, it's just that what if the person you live with won't speak with you? How do you get to know someone who doesn't want to talk?

Also, the sleep pattern of students here in HK is not something I could keep up with - they don't go to bed until late, I mean, I woke up around 4.30 one morning and got up to cough (while I had a cold during the first week I thought it good manners to go to the bathrooms when I felt like I was going to cough for a while - no point in keeping Jenny up) and the floor tutor came in, I asked "Oh no, did I wake you?"  "Nono, I haven't gone to bed yet!". This from the girl who is presumably the most responsible on the whole floor.

So, my half of the room contains one wardrobe, one bed, one desk with a chair and a small cabinet thingy one wheels that sits under the desk but doubles very nicely as a bedside table. And Jenny's half is identical. We both have a small board over the desk where I've pinned some pictures and my schedule and we also have a big board each over the bed. This looks a bit like a white board. But no. It is simply a massive wooden board, too hard to pin anything on. Just a strange piece of wall basically. And we have a balcony! It runs along the building so we share it with some others.

My bed and desk. Last terms exchange students had left some stuff so for example my bedding was free - super appreciated seeing as we arrived in the evening and this way we didn't have to go out and buy anything. Got the reading light and the tiny potted plant at IKEA, needed some stuff to feel at home ;)
My wardrobe. I'm putting anything I can get my hands on on the board just to brighten things up a smidge, here you can see a map over the underground. Good fun :P

It's small, it's rather extremely beige and brown, it wasn't very clean when we moved in. And for some reason it is surprisingly cold. We go out on the balcony to warm up. But it's home. I was saying the other night to Jenny that I am very happy about the fact that we live together - we can quite comfortably just be, either we can talk about stuff or do our own thing. If I lived with a local I fear that I would't be "allowed" to stay in when I'm tired, I'd always be dragged out on something, be social and shit. There's plenty of time for that, these first 2 weeks with my cold and everything (I feel much better now), it's been a bloody blessing coming home and going to bed early.
Mine and Jenny's phone chargers are expressing their love.
